landscape design + construction

On rare occasions one is blessed to work with a group of people who are alive with the energy that comes only to those who have a passion for what they do. Joe Hertzler and his team are one of those phenomena.

services

Hertzler + George offers a complete range of services for all of your landscape needs.

Design

Creative design is the heart of a successful landscape. The designer analyzes and orchestrates the all the elements of landscape: plants, site lines, architecture and topography into a composition of beauty and harmony.

Site Work

Often overlooked in favor of the more glamorous aspects of landscape, site work forms the foundation of everything that occurs on a piece of earth. Topography, drainage and soils: without the proper foundation all that follows will suffer.

Planting

"Patios, pathways, fences and walls should be given first priority, as they contain your dreams. But don't fret - there is a big difference between first priority and top priority, which is reserved for plants. It is for them you are setting the stage." - Thomas Hobbs, The Jewel Box Garden

Carpentry

“Arbors, gazebos, pergolas, trellises – all such open structures make wonderful additions to the garden, especially when covered with climbing shrubs or vines. They’re like icing on the cake after the hard work of planning, building, and planting a garden.” -James Van Sweden, Architecture in the Garden

Masonry

The timeless tradition of masonry- nowhere is the skill of our craftsmen more apparent than in these works of art.

Paving

Pathways and terraces are the guides that carry the visitor through a garden. They dictate the views and sequence in which those views are presented. Shouldn’t something this important be fabulous in its own right?

Lighting

Landscape lighting can be a great addition to the natural light of the moon and stars. It adds mood and drama to the garden, extending its use late into the night.

Waterfeatures

If I could, I would convince every person in the world to have water in their garden. There is something magnetic and magical about it, drawing you in like nothing else can.
