Imagine you enjoy a friendly game of croquet now and then. What are you going to do if your house sits atop a grassy hill? Call Hertzler & George! That’s exactly what happened to this family in Governor’s Land. And when H&G completed the project they not only had the level playing field necessary to set up their wickets, but also elegant garden terrace perfect for outdoor entertaining as well.
For some projects, a simple segmental wall might have done the trick, but the fine architecture and detailing of this house called for something equally sophisticated in the landscape. Something that would bring the architecture and landscape together into one cohesive design. Towards this end, we provided the clients with several options, all focusing on the elegant screen porch.

Once the clients decided which layout they liked, Hertzler & George got to work on estimating the cost and drafting the construction drawings that would take this project from paper to reality. All the construction work was done in-house as well: pouring the foundation, laying the block work, installing the stone veneer, and adjusting the irrigation to accommodate the new terrace. That’s the beauty of hiring a design/build firm: your project goes smoothly from start to finish, and having H&G as the single point of contact ensures nothing gets lost in translation.
